Dr Robert Eales was educated in South Africa and at Oxford. He is a retired businessman with a keen interest in and personal connections with the Boer War. He has delivered many presentations on this war, including three papers at previous AHA Conferences. He is the author of The Compassionate Englishwoman, Emily Hobhouse in the Boer War.
