Mia Martin Hobbs is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Melbourne. She is conducting an oral history project with Australian and US Vietnam veterans who have returned to Vietnam since the war. Her thesis examines change over time in veterans’ returns to Vietnam, focussing on why they returned and how they reacted to the people and places of Vietnam - their former enemies, allies, and battlefield - as the war recedes further into history and memory in Vietnam, Australia, and the US.
