- This delegate is presenting an abstract at this event.
David Longley is a soon-to-be graduate of Monash University. His recently completed PhD thesis examined the articles written by war correspondents in the employment of African American newspapers during World War II, and the methods through which they interpreted, filtered, and represented the war in order to push civil rights change at home. His work examines the way in which World War II, its build-up, and its aftermath, facilitated contact and interactions between peoples on a mass scale, with a particular focus on the intersection of race, culture, and nationality.
