Alec became fascinated by Aboriginal art in the mid 1990s, which led to a thesis (ANU, 2013) on the life and art of Pintupi man Mick Namarari Tjapaltjarri. With the authorisation and support of Papunya Tula Artists and Namarari’s family, Alec has prepared a biography for publication (due late 2018).
