Golf in times of war (395)
The talk will begin with items from the Golf Museum of the Australian Golf Heritage Society. The audience will be invited to discuss two Australian WWI recruitment posters specifically aimed at golfers. Other topics covered: club trophies arising from war; courses and clubhouses requisitioned for military purposes; golf played not far from the front line; golf careers impacted by war; local rules for unexploded ordnance on the course; knowledge of golf course topography as an aid to war.
