Surgery in the desert: North Africa World War II (85)
The Western Desert Campaign between June 1940 and May 1943 required the Medical Corps of the Allied and Axis forces to adapt to a new form of warfare. In particular, the conduct of military surgery evolved to accommodate rapid troop movements over a vast and arid environment. The results of the management of the wounded soldiers are not well documented, but the available material indicates that the Allies provided a superior quality of treatment.
